From the warrior societies of ancient Greece, to the Crusader states of medieval Europe, to the total wars of the twentieth century, humans have waged war. Throughout the ages, human societies have persistently organised themselves to fight toppling rulers, invading neighbours and forging empires. With this course, youll have the chance to explore armed conflict and its influence in our social, cultural and political development. Youll seek out and analyse different perspectives on its role, place and purpose in societies around the world and across different eras. With such a wide-ranging impact throughout history, there's a diverse selection of units on offer, allowing you to pursue your own passions within the subject from classical to modern, and from civil war to international conflict. Graduates may be employed in a wide range of industries including: museums, galleries, heritage sites/historic houses, The National Trust, heritage organisations and charities, record offices, archives, building conservation, horticulture and nature conservation, national and local government, libraries and universities. All history students, whichever degree route you have chosen, can spend their second year on an exchange abroad. You will spend the full academic year at your chosen institution and there are a wide-range of universities to choose from in Australia and the United States.
