The BSc Tourism Management course blends classroom activities with exciting field trips and excursions that demonstrate how the theories you learn as you study are applied by tourism professionals. You will explore how tourism attractions are set up and managed, and see this in action in visits to a number of different attractions. You will study at our Salford campus close to Manchester city centre but as part of your degree you will also take part in an international field trip funded by Salford Business School to see how Destination Management Organisations develop and maintain successful tourism destinations.A further opportunity for Tourism Management students comes through our partnership with TAMK University in Finland. Through the dual award option, you have the chance to apply to study part of your course at Tampere University of Applied Sciences and graduate with two degrees. Tobias Reynolds did it, watch the video below to hear about his experiences.<br><br>Teaching on this course will use a variety of methods to develop your knowledge and understanding. Key theories will be delivered during lectures and then discussed in seminars. Guest lecturers will also contribute to the delivery of the programme, giving insight from industry as to how theories are put into practice in the tourism industry. You will also be taken on field trips both local and international to practice your skills in real world settings.You will have four hours of lectures and four hours of seminars per week, and you will also have four hours where you are supervised working on the Multi-Level Team Project. Your schedule will be supplemented with an additional three hours per week of drop in sessions in case you want additional support with your studies.<br><br>The diversity of the tourism industry means that you will have a wide range of career paths available to you upon graduation. This programme will give you the knowledge and skills you need to join the hotel or transport industries, to work in a destination management organisation, in travel agencies or tour operators. Previous graduates have gained careers as hotel managers, airline cabin crew, digital editors of travel magazines and marketing managers for tourism destinations.
