课程简介
The Centre for Intelligent Healthcare aims to become a globally recognised research centre for pioneering and opinion-setting research in the area of digital healthcare and its contribution to improving communities and enriching and prolonging individual lives. The greatest challenge facing our healthcare system is how to maintain the health of the population and reduce the burden on the NHS. This is especially important now when there is an increase in the prevalence of long-term conditions. So enabling each of us to monitor our health at home or in the community rather than in hospital would lead to benefits both for us and for the NHS. Advances in medicine in the last 20 years has brought treatments for illnesses previously considered incurable and more individuals are living with long term conditions. When you add to this the increasing number of people with co-morbidities due to demographic change and lifestyle choices, it is clear that the very nature of our healthcare services has to alter. This will require new approaches, new technologies and supporting evidence as we all become responsible for ensuring we stay healthy, active and independent for as long as possible since all of us wish to age well. The Centre for Intelligent Healthcare (CIH) through its dynamic staff, advisory boards, partner organisations and horizon scanning tools will be at the forefront of this research, improving and developing digital self-management tools and interventions, creating wearable devices for the next generation of healthcare monitoring and management and providing the evidence for change. CIH aims to become a globally recognised research centre for pioneering and opinion-setting research in the area of digital healthcare and its contribution to improving communities and enriching and prolonging individual lives.
