University Standard Entry Requirement - Three passes at GCSE level or equivalent at Grade C or above including English Language and where required Maths, and two or three GCE A level or vocational A level passes; five passes in the Scottish Certificate of Education, of which two are at higher grade or passes in four subjects all of which are at higher grade; a pass in an access course recognised by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and designed to prepare students for higher education; a pass in a Foundation course in art and design validated by Edexcel; the award of the Diploma of the International Baccalaureate - minimum 28 points; a pass of 70% in the European Baccalaureate; the Irish Leaving Certificate with passes at grade C or above in five subjects; the award of an Edexcel National Diploma or Certificate; the successful completion of the 14-19 Diploma with 80 or more UCAS points. You will be required to have: UK degree grade 2.2 in the language you want to teach or equivalent. If you do not have a degree in that language but hold an alternative degree at the required level, then you should be a native speaker. You should also ideally have spent a significant amount of time in a country where the foreign language you intend to teach is spoken; literacy and numeracy tests — these are university-based tests, which you will be asked to undertake at your interview; a valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate and Confirmation of Fitness to Teach (eg a London Metropolitan University Health Check) which you will be advised to apply for after an offer is made. GCSE English and Mathematics grade C (grade 4) or above (or equivalent, see Equivalency Testing or A Star Teachers).
