Minimum grades -Applicants are required to hold at the time of enrolment the established Leaving Certificate (or an approved equivalent) with a minimum of six subjects which must include: Two H5 (Higher level) grades and Four O6 (Ordinary level) grades or Four H7 (Higher Level) grades. Subjects must include Mathematics, Irish or another language, and English.
Note: Grade F6 in Foundation Mathematics also satisfies the minimum entry requirements. Foundation mathematics is not reckonable for scoring purposes.
Subject requirements - In addition, students wishing to study a Language must hold a minimum H4 grade in that language, with the exception of beginners German or beginners Spanish where a H4 grade in a language other than English is required. Specialist requirement in Mathematics for those studying Economics or Mathematics.
For certain subjects, additional special qualifications specific to individual subjects or disciplines may be determined by the respective departments in accordance with Academic Council regulations.
IELTS - Minimum score of 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any component.
TOEFL- (paper based) - 580.
TOEFL- (internet based) - 90.

It is possible to study Irish as part of a wide range of courses at the University of Limerick which include a Degree in Law Plus, a Degree in Applied Languages, a Degree in European Studies, a Degree in Performing Arts (Music and Dance), a B Degree. Teacher in Languages, a Degree in Physical Education, and a Degree in Arts. The Lann na Gaeilge team works hard on behalf of the students and we are there to support you on the road to learning. Due to the team's specialisms, you will receive a specific course in Irish which will be linked to major international disciplines including the study of literature, anthropology and folklore, history of the Irish language, nomology, and which Lann na Gaeilge sits within of international student thinking movements. You will be dealing with a team that approaches teaching with enthusiasm and energy, will give you both encouragement and support, and will give you a warm welcome to the University of Limerick.<br>As part of your Irish language course, you will study the grammar and accuracy of the Irish language (both written and spoken), and you will study literature, oral culture, and sociolinguistics, through which you will develop your thinking, analytical, and persuasion. You will attend teaching classes that focus specifically on language courses, grammar, speaking Irish and translation, You will attend lectures on a wide range of topics within Lann na Gaeilge, for example, the autobiography of the Irish language, the tradition of storytelling, the stories of heroes, the old stories of wonder, the mourning, the tradition of singing, Modern Irish literature between prose and poetry, Irish language literature 17th century - 19th century, Chitinn's storytelling, language planning, dialectology, sociolinguistics.
