Demonstrate disciplinary knowledge and skill: Meet the disciplinary knowledge and skill requirements for graduates seeking to commence a career in accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing or business analytics.<br><br>The Indonesian Studies major will familiarise students in the national language of Indonesia, the world's fourth most populous country and one of the world's most religiously, linguistically, culturally and socially diverse countries. Studying the Indonesian Studies major will equip you to work toward building an Australia that understands and can communicate with its neighbours, fostering continuing cooperation between our countries in areas of natural disaster aid, poverty reduction, border protection, defence, trade, commerce, finance, education and the arts. Besides well-known careers in teaching, research, translating and interpreting, in business and in law, positions in government agencies such as DFAT, the Australian Embassy in Indonesia and the Federal Police offer highly rewarding employment. Graduates also work as journalists, artists and in NGOs. A whole range of scholarships are available for students who wish to immerse themselves within Indonesian environments, including the prestigious New Colombo Plan Scholar Award. Depending on students' prior knowledge of and/or qualifications in the Indonesian language, there are four different major streams: Beginners, Intermediate Advanced and Extended. Heritage speakers are required to take a placement test before enrolling.
