Expert academic staff will help you achieve a high level of proficiency in speaking, writing and reading both French and German, whilst developing your knowledge and critical understanding of the culture, literature, and society of both countries. Taught in the heart of London, this degree offers a year abroad which is usually split between French and German-speaking countries, allowing you to immerse yourself in the cultures and hone your language skills. The year abroad offers you the unique opportunity for immersion in French culture. We have exchanges with a number of partner universities in France and French speaking countries including Austria, Switzerland, Canada and Martinique.<br><br>Our French with German BA course involves you following required language modules throughout the course, and also selecting from a diverse range of optional modules for both languages. Your optional modules in French cover Francophone literature from the Middle Ages to the present day, as well as further modules in French history, contemporary French institutions, film, politics and philosophy. Your German modules will include literature from all periods, German film, German history and German philosophical thought, as well as German political and social theory. The interdisciplinary nature of this course aims to develop a broad and profound critical understanding of both French and German history, society and culture while helping you to attain a high level of proficiency in speaking, writing and reading in both languages.
