Philosophy at York will challenge you to form your own opinions on life’s biggest questions about ethics, knowledge, the mind, politics and science.Why choose York: Embark on a personal, intellectually-rich philosophical journey. Study major philosophical texts past and present. Discover Aristotle and the classics, questions of data privacy, the mind, the nature and limits of art and beyond. We collaborate across disciplines and make significant contributions to contemporary debates. Our staff have been involved in debate and strategy around AI development, governance and quality assurance. They’ve worked with Public Health England to review the ethics of data collection in healthcare. They've highlighted issues of social justice and been involved in the development of community wealth building at a local level in cities across the UK, US and elsewhere.Build valuable skills and prepare for your career. Through written work, podcasting and even poster design, you’ll learn how to communicate complex ideas in an accessible way. We host regular talks with visiting academics.
