A concentration in Film and Video provides students with technical training coupled with a historical and critical examination of the medium. The growing world of video art, independent films, Internet shorts, and cable TV, along with an ever-expanding variety of presentation platforms has opened up a vast field for emerging artists. Personal expression, critical inquiry, and craftsmanship join to create a uniquely exciting art, whether it's on a smart device, in gallery-based installations, narrative experiments at film festivals, or community-based projects.<br>Under the guidance of an impressive faculty of scholar-teachers, you gain first-rate liberal arts education and build a depth of understanding in such areas as philosophy and ethics or social sciences and political history, while pursuing advanced artistic investigations in a studio major. In four years, you will complete all requirements for a B.F.A. in a studio discipline simultaneously with a challenging liberal arts major in Humanistic Studies, allowing you to begin graduate study a year earlier than 5-year B.A./B.F.A. programs.
