The BFA Degree is designed for those students who desire a focused preparation in the visual arts or who intend to pursue an advanced degree or careers in art and design. Areas of specialization include ceramics, drawing, glass, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture & extended practices. This degree requires 63 credits 12 credits of Studio and Art History core courses (Art 113, 116, 175 and 176), Art 302 (Theory and Criticism of Art), 21 credits of studio courses in a chosen media-specific program, 12 credits of upper level Art History courses, and 15 credits of art electives. Students are admitted into the BFA degree program through a portfolio review held annually. It is recommended that students apply for the review the year/semester prior to graduation. Only those who are admitted can enroll in ART 410 - BFA Capstone Seminar, held every Spring. In this seminar students produce new work and collaborate in organizing the annual BFA exhibition. In addition to Lab Fees students should anticipate additional costs for material to produce their artwork and the BFA exhibition (i.e. promotion, signage, reception, documentation, etc.)
