The Art Education Program prepares students in the knowledge, skills, and professional dispositions for teaching excellence. It leads to the Bachelor of Science in Art with Multi-Age Visual Arts License. The Art Education program at Miami University prepares the student for licensure as an art teacher in Ohio Public Schools. It leads to the Bachelor of Science in Art with Multi-Age Visual Arts License (Prekindergarten through grade 12, ages 3-21). Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), and the State of Ohio Department of Education Teacher Licensure Standards, it is in compliance with current guidelines from Ohio’s Academic Content Standards (Visual Arts) and the National Art Education Association (NAEA).The degree in Art Education prepares students to teach visual art at public schools, private schools, museums, art centers and arts organizations. Students can also pursue careers in arts administration and arts management.
