Drawing is a fundamental skill and, as such, is a core area of study for all art and design majors. The process and decision aspects of applying line to a surface is basic to virtually all aspects of art-making and is often the means through which artists record their initial ideas, as well as develop finished works.Courses are designed to acquaint students with contemporary and historical uses of drawing in Western civilization as well as its application within other cultures. Drawing helps students develop ways of documenting their world, describing their perceptions, and formulating/evolving thought processes. As all art mediums incorporate cutting-edge approaches and technology, drawing also has become interpreted in evolving ways. The coursework encourages experimentation with new materials and subject matter that reflect our changing world.
