For International high school applicants: Secondary School Graduation equivalent to Grade 12 in Ontario with an overall average of B or 70% numeric equivalent in the final year and:
If you are applying from a country or school system with English as the official language of instruction, a minimum grade of B or 70% numeric equivalent in English 12 or equivalent course is required.
If you are applying from a country or school system with a language other than English as the official language of instruction, OR if your first language is not English and you have not completed at least four consecutive years of high school in an English-medium school system, you are required to present the successful results of an English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT).
International Baccalaureate (IB): The admission average for an IB Diploma applicant is generally calculated on 3 Higher Level and 3 Standard Level subjects. A minimum final score of 24 points is required. IB English must be included as one of these courses with a final grade of 4 or higher. Transfer credit may be awarded to students who achieve a grade of at least 5 in Higher Level IB courses that are approved as equivalent to OCAD U courses.
For Ontario high school students, a minimum overall average of 70%

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): Applicants taking the TOEFL test for the first time must provide an Internet-based Test (TOEFL iBT) with a minimum total score of 84 with at least 20 in Reading, at least 19 in Listening, at least 22 in Speaking and at least 20 in Writing.

The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Visual and Critical Studies offers students the opportunity to pursue the academic study of art history in the creative and dynamic environment of Canada's premier art and design university. The unique features of this Honours BA program include: An emphasis on the expanded field of modern and contemporary art history, which includes design, photography, architecture, performance and new media, as well as painting and sculpture. Integration of select studio courses into the core program of study, which provides students with the opportunity to pursue studio minors. A range of innovative interdisciplinary minors to choose from, such as Indigenous Visual Culture and Digital Futures, as well as minors in English, Creative Writing and Social Science. Access to international study opportunities, including OCAD University's flagship Florence Program. Fourth-year honours seminar, which provides students with the opportunity to research and produce a major research paper. Study art history in the place art and design is made at Canada's biggest art and design university. Our program is unique, in that you also get to take studio courses and make art and design yourself. The exceptional educational experience offered by the Honours BA in Visual and Critical Studies prepares graduates for careers in curating, arts management, arts journalism and criticism, publishing and digital industries, such as writing for websites and gaming. The program's academic specialization and breadth - with more than 90 visual culture courses and more than 80 breadth courses in English, humanities, social sciences and science/ technology to choose from - also provides a thorough foundation for post-graduate study in art history and related fields. The program emphasizes the expanded field of modern and contemporary art history, which includes design, photography, architecture, performance and new media, as well as painting and sculpture.
