Students in the M.A. in Social Design believe that design can create positive change in the world, possess a professional level of design skills and knowledge, are prepared for an immersive, hands-on experience and are able to work collaboratively with different disciplines, knowledge bases, and points of view.
Curriculum Vitae/Resume
Applicants should submit a written statement discussing their artwork and outlining their interest in graduate study. The statement should also specifically discuss experiences that led them to want to be part of MICA's M.A. in Social Design program. Please limit to 500 words.
Two (2) Letters of Reference
Digital transcripts from the last degree-granting institution can be uploaded to SlideRoom.
International candidates whose primary language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in both written and spoken English.
TOEFL: A minimum overall band score of 75 on the iBT Test of English Language as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required to be considered for admission.
IELTS: A minimum score of 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required to be considered for admission.

Elevating the social and design literacy of creatives and building new pathways for professional practice.<br>The first degree-bearing program of its kind, MICA's MA in Social Design is an intensive, practice-based graduate program that prepares creative changemakers with the tools and methods to advance equity and social justice and become pioneers and leaders in the practice.<br><br>MICA's M.A. in Social Design is a 1-year, interdisciplinary graduate program that explores the designer's role and responsibility in society. The 30-credit program is comprised of seminar, studio, and elective courses as well as a variety of other immersive and practice-based experiences that take students outside of the institution to learn.
