Admitted students are required to submit final secondary school (high school) transcripts and/or proof of degree completion (A-Levels, WAEC, CBSE, High School Certificate, etc.) before enrolling at DePaul. An application to any of The Theatre School's BFA majors is a two-part process that involves submitting the required application materials and participating in an audition (acting major) or interview (non-acting majors.)
​Your resume can include both theatre experience and related non-theatre experience (extracurricular activities, employment, etc.) You will need to submit a resume before you are able to register for an interview.
​Have an official copy of your high school transcript sent to The Theatre School Admissions Office. If you have taken college credit courses you wish to have considered for transfer credit, please have your official college transcripts sent to us as well.
​An interview is required for all applicants to the BFA Sound Design Program
​Your portfolio will steer the interview conversation and should demonstrate your talent and potential as a student for the BFA Projection Design program.
Request three letters of recommendation from individuals who are familiar with your desire to attend The Theatre School, such as a teacher, director, or employer.
TOEFL - 80 on the IBT TOEFL with no subsection lower than 17 , IELTS Academic - 6.5 on the IELTS Academic, SAT - minimum evidence based reading and writing score of 550, ACT - minimum reading score of 18 and English score of 20.

The Theatre School's Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in sound design trains students to be successful sound designers and engineers in all levels of the theatre and entertainment industries. Students learn techniques for sound editing, recording, and composition using the hardware and software that are the industry standard. Students get practical experience designing and rigging sound through their collaborations with directors, other designers, and our professional production staff. Students learn from a distinguished and award-winning faculty of professional designers, artists and technicians both in the classroom and through individual guidance and advising during production work. Students receive formal and informal feedback from faculty through portfolio presentations and exhibits of their work each year.
