English is the primary language of instruction in all Faculties except Facult Saint-Jean. All undergraduate applicants to any program or course except Facult Saint-Jean need an adequate level of English language proficiency before admission, regardless of their citizenship status or country of origin. The University of Alberta reserves the right to use discretion in determining adequate levels of language proficiency to ensure success in academic programs.
Graduation from a recognized degree program offered by an accredited university at which English is the primary language of instruction or in a country where English is the primary language.
A score of at least 90 on the TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language - Internet-based) with no less than 21 on each band.
A score of at least 6.5 on the IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing System) with no band less than 6.0.
A score of at least 70 on the Canadian Academic English Language assessment: CAEL (paper) or CAEL CE (computer) with no band less than 60.

The BFA Acting degree is a rigorous, intensive conservatory training program that provides in-depth study of acting, movement, dance, singing, voice, and stage combat. Graduates are prepared for immediate entry into the professional workforce. Our BFA Acting program is nationally recognized as one of the leading university acting degree programs in Canada. We attract the best students from across the country and around the world. Entrance to the BFA Acting program is competitive, with 12 spots (6 male and 6 female) in each incoming class. Auditions are held annually in February to start the program in September.
