Minimum Degree: Normally, the minimum requirement for admission to a master's program is successful completion of an undergraduate degree/ baccalaureate, in an honours program or the equivalent, from a recognized university.
Minimum Admisson Average: 70% (B-) average is required in the last two years of full-time equivalent study.

North American Degrees;
A four-year undergraduate degree from a recognized institution.
Typically, the last 20 one-semester courses consist of 10 Credits/60 Units/60 Hours
For in-progress degrees, the total number of credits with grades that are used may be lower. E.g. 8 Credits/48 Units/48 Hours may have grades while 2 Credits/12 Units/12 Hours will be in progress.
International Degrees;
Country-specific degree equivalent to Guelph's four-year undergraduate degree from a recognized institution.
Typically, the last 4 full-time semesters (or 6 full-time semesters for full-year education systems) equivalent credits.

The School of Fine Art and Music provides students with unique opportunities to gain expertise and professional experience in the study and management of art and material culture within an interdisciplinary research context. Our program prepares students for careers in a variety of related fields including cultural resource and collections management in museums, archives, libraries,and galleries and careers in legal, business, educational, and governmental organizations and agencies associated with the material world. We provide students with the credentials required for further specialization in art research and education, restoration and conservation, librarianship, andtherapeutic art practices.The MA program offers two streams a thesis-based stream and a course-based stream with a major research paper MRP. The thesis-based stream is six semesters and the MRP stream is three semesters. Both options provide students with core knowledge about Art History and Visual Culture within an interdisciplinary research context beneficial for transition to higher levels of education and research andor for careers in a variety of fields, such as art publishing, museum and gallery work, or government agencies. In the course-work and major research paper option students must complete the three core courses, three electives and a course-based major research paper MRP of 10,000-15,000 words.Two 2 of the electives must be selected from the list of courses below. The third elective may also be from this list, or it may be an approved course from another College of Arts program.
