The master of arts (MA) is designed for students who are interested in broad coverage of the discipline of music at the graduate level. With a one-plan, 30-credit-hour curriculum, the MA balances music performance, history and musicology, theory, and education, plus additional elective courses. There is an additional opportunity to take elective courses and receive professional certification in teaching from our recognized Music Education faculty. This degree program does not require an audition or portfolio review beyond general admission requirements, but students interested in applied or conducting study should still audition if they intend to pursue those opportunities.
