Develop your talents and increase your technical skills as a music major. Our program offers a holistic musical experience, with access to a diverse, world-renowned faculty and a vast range of performing and educational opportunities.<br>Our broad-ranging program includes 30 credit hours of general electives and 15 credit hours of music electives, allowing you the flexibility to customize your courses to suit your interests and career ambitions. This flexibility also makes it possible to pursue a double major in four years, if you so choose.<br>Students graduating from this program will:<br><br>Demonstrate the ability to write effectively about music in a technical, cultural and historical context.<br>Apply concepts from written theory, aural skills, sight-reading, sight-singing, and keyboard skills to attain fluency in western music.<br>Synthesize concepts in music from a historical and technical construct to inform ideas about community and culture.<br>Demonstrate thinking beyond disciplinary boundaries, leading to innovation in all fields.<br>Synthesize ideas or solutions into a coherent whole by drawing from more than one field to create a novel product or idea.
