The Collaborative Piano program explores communication through the dialogue ofmusic, as a critical part of becoming a knowledgeable, creative, and expressive artist.<br>Collaboration in music begins as a musician reacts to the score, uniting a composer's ideas and the performer's imagination, and continues as the realized interpretation reaches an audience. Communication relies on the ability to articulate one's ideas, informed through self-awareness-both physically and emotionally, coupled with the ability to listen keenly. Students in the Collaborative Piano Program strive to communicate on each of these levels while crafting their own musical interpretations. These skills will be put into practice through the course of their work, which includes four recitals and myriad performance opportunities with their colleagues. Their creative decisions will benefit from access to the rich, artistic tradition represented by the program's Director, Pamela Viktoria Pyle. A graduate of The Juilliard School Professor Pyle was a principal pianist in the studios of Dorothy DeLay and Itzhak Perlman for over a decade. She regularly performs and teaches nationally and internationally and is the Artistic Director of the New Mexico Chamber Music Festival, which takes place during the first week of June at the University of New Mexico.
