Applicants generally have a baccalaureate degree in music or a closely related area from an accredited institution. Students whose undergraduate degree is in another discipline must demonstrate a level of achievement fully acceptable for masters level work in this discipline. Without a degree in music, applicants normally complete at least 16 credits in music theory, 6 credits in music history, and 12 credits in performance. A candidate deficient in certain undergraduate areas must remove the deficiencies by successfully completing appropriate courses.
The application contains 5 sections:
Statement of purpose to share your objectives in pursuing a graduate degree, your area of specialization, interest in studying with faculty at the University of Florida, and your long-term goals.
Letters of recommendation - THREE (3) required letters of recommendation from faculty or professionals who can speak to your ability to be successful in a graduate program. This is completed electronically within the application. You will need your recommenders email address and plan enough time for the recommender to receive and respond to the University request. More information and directions are provided as you complete the online application.
R'sum or curriculum vitae - Pursuant to Florida Statute, your application requires inclusion of all post-high school education and employment, as well as information about ongoing international affiliations and research funding. Please ensure this information is included on your curriculum vitae (CV) or r'sum. There is no additional GA required form, as we use the r'sum.
GPA - use the calculator by entering earned grades as they appear on your transcript - grades from your upper-division courses (junior/senior years), read the directions carefully to complete this section.
Unofficial transcripts - for the purpose of initial review upload unofficial, scanned copies of transcripts (not screenshot of grades), official transcripts are required separately for applicants who receive an offer of admissions.
The GRE is not required.
Applicants with a bachelor's degree only, a minimum grade point average of B (3.0), calculated from all grades and credits after the semester where the applicant reached 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours is required. For applicants from countries where English is not the ofcial language, a minimum score on one of these English Language Skills tests, IELTS - 6.0,TOEFL IBT- 80, PBT- 550.

Welcome to the Keyboard Area of the University of Florida School of Music, where talented students experience an intensive, stimulating and highly rewarding curriculum led by dedicated faculty artists. UF keyboard students distinguish themselves regularly in festivals and competitions around the globe, with many graduates going on to prominent doctoral programs and teaching positions. An All-Steinway School, the University of Florida School of Music boasts several excellent performance venues with concert instruments of outstanding quality. Studios and practice rooms, as well, feature new and meticulously maintained instruments. <br><br>In the areas of Organ, Harpsichord, Carillon and Sacred Music, undergraduate and graduate students enjoy full access to the 99-rank Andrew Anderson Memorial Organ in the University Auditorium, mechanical-action practice organs in the Music Building, a 61-bell carillon and practice clavier in the adjacent Century Tower, and a growing collection of historical keyboard instruments including five harpsichords and a Chickering grand piano from the 1860s.
