Designed for high-caliber performers seeking careers in academia as well as the concert hall, this dual degree enables you to earn a master of music in Piano Performance (with a concentration in Solo Piano) and an advanced certificate in Piano Performance and Pedagogy. Youll take advanced courses in pedagogy and the piano performance practices of the 18th21st centuries, as well as focus on performance opportunities and private lessons.This four-semester program combines extended solo study with pedagogy. Your experience will include public recitals, seminars taught by artist faculty, private lessons and chamber music coaching, and a vast array of courses in music education, piano performance, and music history, theory, and composition.Youll learn performance practices involving a repertoire spanning three centuries, pedagogical traditions that shape our approach to the instrument, and educational perspectives on the art of performance.
