You are eligible to apply as a graduate student if you have earned a degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree.
You must have completed a four-year college course of study and hold an acceptable baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association or an equivalent academic preparation before enrollment in the program.
Be in good academic standing at the last college or university attended.
Official Transcripts are required from the university where the bachelor's degree is earned. Submit a word-for-word certified English translation along with the Official original-language transcripts.
Have earned a cumulative grade-point average of at least 2.5 from the last degree completed by the candidate or have attained a grade-point average of at least 2.5 (A=4.0) in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units attempted.
Above average class standing at an internationally accredited college or university: the equivalent of at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale is recommended.

The Jazz Studies Program at CSUF offers students a chance to prepare themselves for the world of professional performance and composing/arranging opportunities in the Southern California region and throughout the nation. The Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in Jazz and Commercial Studies prepares students for this vibrant field. Ensembles include the Fullerton Jazz Orchestra, Fullerton Big Band & Latin Ensemble, Jazz Small Groups (combos), and the Jazz Singers. From participation in these groups, students are prepared to take their place in the jazz and commercial performing opportunities available in the region. The Master of Music offers two concentrations: theory/composition and performance. The M.M. is designed to produce graduates who: have advanced and proficient knowledge of music history, literature, and theory, are advanced, reflective and independent practitioners of music through performance/improvisation, composition and analysis at a pre-professional level, demonstrate competence to enter their professional field with a high level of knowledge and skills, are scholars who exercise professional standards of oral and written communication through research documents and oral presentations, demonstrate leadership through successful collaborative experiences, academically and in performance, are intellectually curious in exploring new avenues of expression and creativity in programming, and apply global perspectives and current trends to their acquired knowledge and skills in performance/improvisation, composition, education and career development.
