To be eligible, an applicant must hold or expect to hold prior to matriculation a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university, or an equivalent degree from a recognized non-U.S. institution of higher education.
Graduate Division requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 for unconditional admission
All international applicants are required to submit one transcript or academic record from each institution of higher education attended, including any study abroad or exchange programs, summer programs, and non-degree work and extension programs. Applicants may submit unofficial copies of transcripts while applying for admission. However, admitted students are required to submit official transcripts in order to enroll at UHM. Official transcripts or academic records must be sent to Graduate Division Student Services directly from the issuing institution(s), or in sealed institutional envelopes if submitted with the application.
Other TOEFL score minimum requirements for the Music Department are: 540(P), 207 (C) or 76(I) for all other master’s students.

The conducting track in the M. Mus in Performance degree at the University of Hawaii at Mnoa seeks to develop future leaders in music by putting an emphasis on self-awareness as a musician and a conductor. The program is designed for musicians seeking to develop conducting skills through an immersive experience in all aspects of the art of conducting. Goals of the conducting track include advancing students professional work, becoming more effective school ensemble directors, and preparing students for doctoral studies. There are three concentration areas: choral, orchestral, and wind band.<br>Mus. in Performance: Conducting track students work one-on-one with all conducting faculty (choral, orchestral, wind band) in an effort to broaden understanding of the art & craft of conducting across many different types of ensembles. Practical experience is gained by frequent podium time in the rehearsal process and in concerts.
