课程简介
Highly regarded in industry and academia, this course develops outstanding graduates who contribute to improving public health on a national and global scale. You'll be taught by Victoria's leading public health professionals, hospital clinicians and global health experts. With strong links to The Alfred hospital, part of your learning will take place in the Alfred Research Alliance precinct in the heart of Melbourne. Delivered through a combination of online and block-mode teaching, our Master of Public Health provides the quality and recognition of a Monash graduate degree with the flexibility required by working professionals. You can customise your studies to reflect your career interests by choosing electives in clinical research methods, epidemiology and biostatistics, disease and injury prevention and control and health promotion, global health and human rights, health economics, health policy, planning and management, and occupational and environmental health. To guide students in developing their elective study program, with depth for career development and interests, electives are broadly organised into the key areas of expertise of: Epidemiology and biostatistics, clinical research methods, health economics, disease/injury prevention and control and health promotion, health policy, planning and management, global health and human rights, occupational and environmental health, and capstone unit/research projects/case study. The MPH course offers students the opportunity to integrate and extend their knowledge and skills gained in their MPH through a Capstone experience, as a Professional Practice Development unit. There is also the opportunity for students to undertake a research project or case study (consultation with the course research project coordinator is required prior to enrolment in research units). The course structure and flexibility assists students to extend, integrate and apply their core knowledge and skills with depth in key areas of interest according to their background and career development interests, something that employers have identified as important, and to gain knowledge and skills in new areas across the broad domain of public health to equip them for future challenges.

This specialisation provides a strong grounding in epidemiological, analytical and critical appraisal skills used in clinical and applied research. The epidemiology of both non-communicable and communicable diseases will be covered, as well as skills in the collection and analyses of data. Essential for a career in epidemiology, this stream provides you with the knowledge and skills to plan and evaluate strategies to prevent and manage illness across populations. The qualification will boost your opportunities to work in university or government departments of health. Graduates with strong epidemiological skills are also sought in non-government organisations and pharmaceutical companies.
