NCEA Level 3 comprised of 60 credits at NCEA Level 3 or higher and 20 credits at NCEA Level 2 or higher, including:
14 credits each at NCEA Level 3 in three approved subjects
Literacy - 10 credits at NCEA Level 2 or above made up of:
5 credits in reading
5 credits in writing
Numeracy - 10 credits at NCEA Level 1 or above in made up of:
Achievement standards - specified achievement standards available through a range of subjects, or
Unit standards - package of three numeracy unit standards (26623, 26626, 26627 - all three required)
or
Any qualification (New Zealand or overseas) recognised by NZQA as being equivalent to achievement of NCEA Level 3

This programme is for you if you are an Internationally Qualified Nurse (IQN) or you were registered in New Zealand but you have been out of practice for 5 years or more. Through the programme you will be able to demonstrate your ability to meet the Nursing Council New Zealand's (NCNZ's) competencies for your scope of practice and to obtain a practising certificate to continue your career in nursing. This is a full-time programme delivered over a maximum of twelve weeks consisting of a theory course and a clinical placement course.
