Physiotherapyisascience-basedprofessionfocusedonmaintainingorimprovingmobility,physicalabilities,fitnessandqualityoflife.Physiotherapistsusetheirknowledgeofanatomyandphysiologytoemploymovement,exercisetherapyandotherphysicalmethods.Somecountriesrefertophysiotherapyas'physicaltherapy'.Physiotherapistsworkwithpeopleofallageswhoareaffectedbyinjury,illnessordisability.Theyareakeymemberofthemultidisciplinaryhealthcareteamandplayanimportantroleinpreventivehealthandmaximisingfunction.Theprogrammeisopentoapplicationsfromstudentsfromallovertheworldwhowanttobecomephysiotherapists.AswithotherprogrammesatRCSI,wehaveaveryinternationalstudentbody.Pleasereadtheentryrequirementstoseewhichprogrammeyouareeligiblefor.AsanRCSIPhysiotherapystudent,youwillstudyalongsideyourfuturecolleaguesinMedicineandPharmacy.ThiswillensurethatthemultidisciplinarynatureofpatientcareisreflectedinyoureducationatRCSI.Ongraduation,youwillbecareer-readyandcompetitivelyplacedtoworkacrossallareasofthehealthcaresystem.Thispracticalcoursewillprovideyouwithclinicalandcriticalthinkingskillstomeetthedemandsofarapidlychanginghealthsector.ManyofourgraduatesfindemploymentinhospitalswheretheyundertooktheirclinicalplacementsinIreland.AlotofthemalsogoontosecurepositionsincountriesincludingAustralia,Canada,NewZealand,SingaporeandtheUK.
