GCSE: Five GCSEs at Grade C / 4 or above to include English Language / Welsh First Language, Mathematics / Mathematics – Numeracy and Science.
A level subjects: Minimum three A levels. Grades BB in Biology and an equivalent Science.
Relevant subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, IT, Mathematics, Food Technology, Environmental Science or Geography considered as the equivalent Science. Welsh Baccalaureate – Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate considered as a third subject.
BTEC National / Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma: DDM within Applied Science.
T Level: Science subject considered, alongside a further relevant Level 3 qualification.
Access to Higher Education Diploma: 15 Level 3 credits at Distinction in both Biology and an equivalent Science. Access to Higher Education Diplomas in the areas of Biosciences, Health Care, Health Science and Science are acceptable. A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above in English language, Mathematics and Science will also be required.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma: Minimum Grade 6 in Higher Level Biology and equivalent Science.
Irish Leaving Certificate: H1 in both Biology and an equivalent Science.
Scottish Advanced Highers: Grades CC in Biology and an equivalent Science.
Cardiff Metropolitan University Foundation leading to BSc Health Sciences: 70% overall to include a minimum of 65% from the Term 2 Biological Sciences module to be obtained on first attempt.
IELTS 7 overall with at least 6.5 in all elements, or equivalent.

Healthcare Science is a dynamic and continually evolving discipline that requires highly trained individuals to perform an array of laboratory based techniques that contribute to the overall care and wellbeing of patients.<br><br>The professionally accredited BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science degree at Cardiff Met is specifically designed to enable students to develop, integrate and apply scientific knowledge and skills to the multi-disciplinary investigation of human health and disease. With elements of work-based training incorporated into every year of the programme, it is carefully tailored to prepare graduates for a career in the NHS.<br><br>The Healthcare Science degree is closely linked with the workforce planning requirements for NHS Wales, therefore offering an enhanced level of employability. During the second year of study, students will specialise in one of the following disciplines: Blood Science, Cellular Science, Genetics Science or Infection Science. Successful graduates will also be eligible to apply for registration as a Biomedical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), further enhancing the career opportunities.<br>Course Length: Three years full-time (with extended academic year to incorporate work-based training elements). Please note that the placements will take place during ‘traditional' student breaks i.e. over the summer months.
