Combine scientific skills and knowledge with hands-on clinical nursing experience in order to become a highly skilled and adaptable nurse. You will complete Science and Social Science courses related to health and integrate them with nursing practice. Clinical learning will take place in many different areas, including surgical, emergency, medical, mental health and primary care services. You can choose from a huge variety of Science majors, and our strong academic and practical nursing programme is taught by our leading researchers in a state-of-the-art facility. While nurses are critical to the success of the healthcare system, nurses with a scientific bent are better equipped to develop their careers in research, health management and teaching. Once formally registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand, graduates can work as nurses in primary, secondary or tertiary health settings; they will be critically reflective practitioners of nursing and they will practise within a framework of cultural safety. We advise that the University of Auckland is not involved in the employment of graduates and can make no guarantee of post-qualification registration or employment in New Zealand or any other country.

Exercise Sciences is a discipline that focuses on how and why humans move. The dual role that exercise and science play in understanding how physical activity, rehabilitation, sport and movement contribute to sustainable health, provides the foundation for studying Exercise Sciences. There is a growing demand for people who can not only research and analyse performance techniques, but can also work as allied health professionals to maximise human performance to improve general health and wellbeing through exercise.
