To be considered for admission into the DMD, an applicant must have:
a bachelor's degree, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA. Recognised bachelor’s degrees are those conferred by Australian universities or higher education institutions recognised by the Australian Qualifications Framework or the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR). While academic results from postgraduate study will be taken into account, postgraduate studies undertaken without a bachelor’s degree cannot be accepted as an equivalent qualification.
the equivalent of selection Grade Point Average (sGPA) of at least 5.5, and
a Graduate Medical School Admissions Test (GAMSAT) overall score of at least 55 with no section score less than 50 for domestic applicants. International applicants submitting a GAMSAT score require a minimum overall score of 55 with no section under 50.
International applicants for the DMD may sit the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) in place of the GAMSAT and require an overall minimum MCAT score of 500 with no section under 124, or a minimum GAMSAT score of 55 with no section under 50. International applicants for the DMD may submit Canadian or American Dental Association Dental Admissions Test results (DAT). Applicants are initially ranked according to GPA and GAMSAT/MCAT, with the highest-ranking applicants being offered an interview.
After the interviews, candidates will be ranked by GPA, GAMSAT/MCAT/DAT and interview score, with the highest-ranking applicants being offered a place. Rural applicants will be ranked based on GAMSAT, GPA interview and rurality rating. International School Leaver
Assured Pathway entry to Dentistry for international students
International school leavers may apply direct via UWA's online application system, or via an authorised international education agent.
Entry into this course is a competitive process based on ATAR or equivalent, ISAT score and an interview process.
Successful applicants will receive a conditional place in the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD). An Assured Pathway place in the DMD is conditional upon successful completion of UWA's Bachelor of Biomedicine (Specialised) with the Integrated Dental Sciences major and achieving a minimum selection GPA of 5.5 within the first two years of the Bachelor's degree. Students with an Assured Pathway place are not required to sit a graduate admissions test or undergo further interviews in order to take up their place. International Baccalaureate - 40

You'll be based at The Oral Health Centre of Western Australia, a high-tech dental teaching hospital and learning facility on the QEII Medical Centre campus. You will learn by treating patients under close supervision by highly experienced and skilled tutors, and by observing general and specialist dentists treating a wide range of dental conditions. Successful graduates will be able to register with the Dental Board of Australia as a dentist and enter the profession immediately.The course consists of a total of 20 units within modularised streams covering comprehensive clinical care, Developmental & Behavioural Sciences, Diagnostic & Surgical Sciences and Restorative & Rehabilitative Sciences. DMD core modules cover fundamental dental and medical sciences. DMD clinical practice modules cover clinical dental sciences, including patient care, preventive and conservative dentistry, restorative dentistry and child and adolescent dental health. You'll have early clinical exposure with dental immersion activities on introductory concepts in clinical dentistry, pre clinical exercises including dental simulation from first year. In your third year you'll actively engage in a research project. In your final year, you'll undertake quasi-independent but supervised practice, which takes place inside and outside of the School with compulsory rural and private practice rotations.The school is equipped with a state-of-the-art digital radiology suite. The centralised production lab is fully equipped with Computer Aided Design (CAD)Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) facilities and dedicated high spec computers in a Virtual Learning Centre (VLC) for students to undertake CACAM design. The VLC has full functional digital radiology and virtual microscopy facilitates.
