Help individuals, groups and communities improve their health and make the healthy choice an easy choice. This course is designed to equip you with the theoretical and practical skills required for a career in health promotion. You will learn how to identify the health needs of individuals, groups and communities, develop people's skills and knowledge in health, advocate for policies and laws that support healthy choices and plan, implement and evaluate health promotion activities. In your first year you will learn the foundations of health promotion and study interprofessional units with students from other health disciplines. In your second and third years you will specialise in health promotion. You will also participate in fieldwork visits, undertake an on-campus health promotion campaign and complete a 100-hour professional placement in a health promotion organisation. Students in their final year undertake a professional practice placement.
