The following course-specific admission requirements are mandatory and must be satisfied by all applicants. These requirements are in addition to or supersede the minimum requirements outlined within the Academic admission requirements band section below.
All applicants are required to hold a Master by Coursework in a related field. Alternatively applicants can hold an Honours degree, or the equivalent in a relevant field from a recognised University, Applicants seeking online study will be required to provide additional information to support their application, as not all projects nor disciplines are suited to online study.
Academic admission requirements (Band 10) may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
Masters Degree (Research),
Masters Degree (Coursework) in a related discipline area,
Masters Degree (Coursework) with 2/3 research component, or
Bachelor Honours Degree.
It is desirable that all applicants contact a potential supervisor to discuss their research project before applying. Information about ECU's Research Institutions, Centres and Supervisors can be found in the school brochures listed on the Applying for a Research Degree website or the staff contact page of the relevant School.
IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0),
TOEFL iBT or TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition - Minimum score of 84, with no individual score less than 17.
TOEFL paper-based test (PBT) - Minimum score of 573, including Test of Written English of 5.0 or better.

Specific postgraduate research topics are developed in conjunction with the postgraduate coordinator or potential supervisors, however, applications are particularly encouraged from those with an interest in: Occupational health risk modelling, Whole of organisation management to risk, Mosquito vector management, Climate change, Heat stress and health impacts and policy, Bush fires and heavy metal contamination, Eco safety - food and water issues, Built food environment, Nutrition education in schools, the early years and the aged care sector, Food literacy, Food security for regional and remote Australians, homeless and vulnerable groups, Urban agriculture, Regenerative farming and the food system value chain, Communicable disease and immunisation, Alcohol and other drug-related harm, Psychoactive substances, Alcohol and other drug policy, Blue environments, Ageing and social engagement Women and alcohol Social and emotional health of young people Cyberbullying Participatory health research approaches Researchers in the School are currently involved in projects investigating nutrition education in the early years setting, how complex system thinking can map ecosystems to build food secure regions throughout WA, how transformational games can support child learning around different public health issues and promoting social engagement and wellbeing amongst older adults in residential aged care through exercise. The School also boasts purpose built occupational health and safety and environmental health laboratories equipped with industry relevant equipment for hazard assessment. In addition there are purpose built food and nutrition assessment laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment and teaching labs with technologies to enhance learning.
