This is a two-year program leading to an Associate in Science Degree in Medical Assisting. Clinical work experience is provided in cooperating healthcare facilities. An Associate in Science Degree may be earned by completing a minimum of 60 units of degree credit coursework, which includes the major requirements and general education requirements, with a minimum grade point average of 2.0. Students must complete all courses for the major with a grade of C or better.<br><br>You can learn how to do everything that medical assistants do in our new, state-of-the-art skills lab, where high-tech simulators allow you to practice working with patients. Our curriculum is aligned with national credentialing standards, to make sure you’ll be competitive and ready to work wherever you go. And, we make employer relationships a high priority, placing students at externship partners like Sutter Health, Kaiser Permanente and Lifelong Medical Care. These employers also help shape our curriculum, keeping it up-to-date and focused on the things that matter most in our area.
