课程简介
During this interdisciplinary graduate certificate program, students study disabilities from social and cultural contexts, considering disability as a social minority group that is constructed culturally, economically and politically, rather than physiologically as is traditionally emphasized. To develop their understanding and ground their studies, students collaborate with and learn from persons with disabilities and professionals in the field. This program is designed for students looking for advanced training in the emerging and growing field of disability studies. To earn certification, students complete three required courses and one elective course, which feature content applicable to careers in social work, law, management, administration, the social sciences and education.<br>Students in this program will develop valuable perspectives and skills that compliment careers in a variety of fields. Graduates will be prepared for leadership positions in nonprofit organizations, private enterprises and government where they can influence public policy, societal arrangements, professional practice and cultural values.
