The M.S. in Athletic Training prepares students for national certification and licensure as a certified athletic trainer with career opportunities in high schools, colleges/universities, orthopedic and sports medicine clinics, business and industry, professional sports teams, government health agencies, branches of the U.S. military, and research laboratories.<br>The emphases of the curriculum are: evidence based practice, risk management and injury prevention, pathology of injuries and illnesses, acute care of injuries and illnesses, pharmacology, therapeutic modalities, therapeutic exercise, general medical conditions and disabilities, nutritional aspects of injuries and illnesses, psychosocial intervention and referral, healthcare administration, and professional development and responsibilities. Students are given opportunities to gain knowledge and skills needed to pass the certification exam of the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Training.
