ThePharmacyprogrammeisdeliveredthroughamodularsystem.Earlymodulesprovidethefoundations,integratingaroundthethemesofhealth,medicinesandthepharmacist.Year2and3includemodulesbasedonthesystemsofthebody.Eachsystems-basedmoduleintegrateslifesciences,chemicalandphysicalsciences,clinicalsciencesandpractice.Structuredplacementsoccurinallfiveyearsoftheprogramme.Theseprovideopportunitiestolearnacrossdifferentsettings,inleadingorganisationsincommunity,hospital,pharmaceuticalindustry,academiaandotherplaceswherepharmacistsmakeadifference.Afour-monthplacementinYear4andaneight-monthplacementinthefinalyear(Year5)ensurethatwhenyougraduateyouarereadyforpractice.Case-basedlearningisakeyfeatureofthecurriculum.Casesareusedinallmodulesforteachingandassessment.Patientandpublicinvolvementineducationandinterprofessionallearningarekeyfeatures.Thereisafocusonactivelearning,appropriatelysupportedbytechnology-enhancedlearning.Theteachingandlearningstrategygivesyouthechancetolearnindifferentways:Learningfromexperts(lectures,smallgroupteaching,patientcontactsessions)Learningwithothers(interprofessionallearning,group-basedactivities)Learningthroughmaking(laboratorypracticals,presentations)Learningthroughexploring(research,projects)Learningthroughpracticing(simulation)Learningfromassessment(formativeassessment,feedback,reflection)Learninginandacrosssettings(sitevisits,experientiallearning)Thereareplentyofopportunitiestodevelopyourresearchskillsfurther,bothathomethroughtheResearchSummerSchool,andoverseas.ThereareresearchandexchangeopportunitieswithourpartnerinstitutionsinChina,France,JapanandtheUS.ThePharmaceuticalSocietyofIrelandcommendedtherangeofoptionsataccreditation.Theprogrammespansfiveyears,leadingtotheawardofMasterofPharmacy(MPharm).WhenyoucompleteYears1-4oftheprogramme,youwillbeeligiblefortheawardofaBachelorofScience(BSc)inPharmacy.OnceyoucompleteYear4youwillhavetheoptiontoprogresstothefinalMastersyearoftheprogramme.
