The Master of Health Informatics program requires successful completion of an undergraduate program of study in healthcare management, business, information systems, information technology or management, or any other health-related field. Applicants must meet all SIU Graduate School admission requirements, including a minimum GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale for the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework.
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores. The minimum required score is 550 (paper test), 213 (computer-based test), or 80 (Internet-based test). The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is acceptable in place of the TOEFL. The minimum IELTS score is 6.5.

The target student population for the Master of Health Informatics (MHI) program are individuals who have successfully completed an undergraduate program of study in healthcare management, business, information systems, information technology or management, or any closely related / equivalent field. The online MHI program has been specifically tailored to meet the needs of those who are place-bound or who hold full-time employment which prevents them from completing a master's degree via traditional methods. Hospital managers, health information technicians, coding specialists, nurses, physicians, and anyone else seeking a graduate degree within health informatics or health information management are encouraged to enroll.
