Hold a master's degree with thesis in epidemiology or a closely related discipline such as biostatistics or population-based genetics with a minimum average of B+.
Note: International candidates must check the admission equivalencies for the diploma they received in their country of origin.
Have mastered the equivalent of the content of the following courses either during their previous studies or through work experience: EPI 5240, EPI 5242, EPI 5340, EPI 5341, EPI 6178, (2 among EPI 5344, EPI 5345, EPI 5346). Otherwise, they may need to complete some of these courses either prior to admission or in addition to the regular requirements of the degree.
Demonstrate strong research performance.
Identify at least one professor who is willing to supervise your research and thesis. We recommend that you contact potential thesis supervisors as soon as possible.

The purpose of the programs is to provide a scholarly environment for the health sciences community that will stimulate and enhance learning and expand knowledge by conducting research. Graduates are professional experts or consultants who can advise persons and agencies in other fields.<br>The faculty members of the School come from a wide variety of academic backgrounds and interests. The School has an active research program, involving extensive collaborations with other groups.<br>The driving force behind the MDPhD program at the University of Ottawa was and remains to attract the small number of students with a high potential to grow into future leaders in the health sciences and allied fields. MDPhD students exemplify the multi-disciplinary nature of the ongoing educational and scientific activities at our bilingual university.
