Letter of Recommendation: Your recommendation may be from a guidance counselor, teacher, or advisor concerning academic ability and character. Specific requirements exist for:
Home-schooled students: two letters of recommendation are suggested.

Adults returning to school after an extended time: obtain a letter of recommendation from an employer or professional in the community.
Home-schooled applicants only:
Submit an academic portfolio consisting of graded work. Specific requirements include an English essay, science project/lab/report, and a social sciences research or analytical paper.
Accepted tests and minimum required scores are: Duolingo (100), TOEFL (61), IELTS (5.5)

Our B.A. in English Education program offers extensive hands-on field experience that will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary for teaching in the 21st century. The English Education degree fulfills all the requirements of our English major and the New Hampshire State Department of Education Professional Standards for Teachers, which are required for certification. The curriculum allows for either literature or writing focus and includes courses in British and American literature, creative and professional writing, and teaching and secondary education coursework.
