With a BSE in Secondary Education-Family Consumer Sciences option, you will be ready for certification from kindergarten through grade 12. You will have the opportunity to teach in high schools, middle schools, career centers, and continuing education centers. At UCM, you will be joining a program with over 100 years of tradition on preparing FCS teachers as you take courses in culinary, textiles, nutrition, child development, and more. You will use the knowledge and skills obtained in the Family Consumer Sciences Education program to: Demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for entry level teaching in Family Consumer Sciences. Demonstrate content knowledge in Family Consumer Sciences. Demonstrate understanding and apply knowledge of technology, research, problem solving, creative & critical thinking, and communication skills within the teaching profession. Display professionalism within the FCS profession through participation in career related opportunities and an FCS related organization.
