国际学生入学条件
The Pathobiology graduate program is designed for students wishing to conduct PhD-level research in the areas of toxicology, cancer biology, immunology, or infectious disease.
To have a realistic chance of being admitted to the Pathobiology graduate program, applicants must have demonstrated strong backgrounds in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, cell biology, and/or related fields of study. The admissions committee will consider both the rigor of the coursework that has been completed in these areas, and the grades that have been achieved.
Most successful applicants to the program have engaged in independent research projects as part of their undergraduate training. Letters of support written by research mentors are typically included in the application materials.
Include a Statement of Purpose as part of the on-line application. It should be uploaded during the graduate school online application procedure. The statement should detail your general background (including any prior research experience) as well as your research interests and goals.
Arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent. Using the electronic application, applicants will enter referee contact information. The graduate school will contact the referee with instructions on how to upload a letter of recommendation.
Upload official transcripts from each institution attended (other than Penn State). Upon an acceptance of an offer of admission, hard copies of official transcripts must then be sent directly from the institution(s) attended for verification.
Arrange for GRE test scores to be sent electronically to Penn State Graduate Enrollment Services (GES).
International applicants must take and submit scores for the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or the IELTS (International English Language Testing System), with the exceptions noted below. The minimum acceptable score for the TOEFL is 550 for the paper-based test, 213 for the computer-based test, or a total score of 80 with a 19 on the speaking section for the Internet-based test (iBT). Applicants with iBT speaking scores between 15 and 18 may be considered for provisaaional admission, enrollment, and, if necessary, remedial course work. The minimum composite score for the IELTS is 6.5. Revised TOEFL PBT July 2017 and later 60

An interdisciplinary Ph.D. program that focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of disease for students with an interest in cancer biology, immunology, and infectious disease.

The Pathobiology graduate program at Penn State University is a Ph.D. program featuring a wide range of faculty who share a common interest in understanding the molecular basis of human and animal disease. Students in the program can choose from an outstanding selection of laboratories, headed by young and active faculty, for their Ph.D. research.
Research in Pathobiology is particularly strong in the following three areas:

Immunology - faculty seek to understand the mechanisms by which the body fights disease. Their work covers a range of important research areas, from the role of cell signaling in B and T lymphocytes to that of macrophages in cellmediated immunity.
Toxicology - faculty in toxicology provide exciting opportunities to study the response of cells to toxic compounds and to understand the molecular basis for cancer development.
Infectious disease - brings together a diverse faculty with a wide range of techniques to bear on viral and bacterial pathogens that cause both human and animal diseases.
Faculty research is well-funded, with external funding coming primarily from the National Institutes of Health, as well as a variety of other sources. Tuition for Pathobiology students, as well as stipends to cover living expenses, are paid using these research funds.
