The OSU Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology seeks promising students for graduate training. The graduate program is research-intensive, providing both broad biochemical knowledge and deep training in specific research disciplines.<br>In addition to competitive stipends, our graduate students enjoy access to individualized faculty-student mentoring, cutting edge research facilities and a stimulating multicultural environment. Our program is designed to prepare young scientists for leadership positions in industry, government, education, public communication, or as independent researchers.<br><br>The OSU Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology’s PhD program is highly research-oriented, giving students advanced research training, and is designed to enhance a student’s critical thinking, scientific communication and leadership skills.<br><br> <br><br>Biochemistry and Molecular Biology doctoral candidates take a minimum of 30 credit hours of advanced graduate coursework and hands-on workshops, and a maximum of 60 credit hours of independent research for a total of 90 credit hours. The course requirements are determined with the assistance and approval of the student’s advisory committee, and can be tailored to the student’s career goals.
