To declare the BSc Honours or Major in Biological Sciences you first must be accepted into the Faculty of Science. The following are the minimum requirements for entry into the Faculty of Science.Direct entry means you are applying to the program directly out of high school or have completed fewer than 24 credit hours at a recognized university or college.Advanced entry Applicants are those who have completed one year (24 credit hours) or more of studies in another faculty at the University of Manitoba or another recognized post-secondary institution.

Further your knowledge of living organisms and study all aspects of life in an inclusive environment with our Biological Sciences program. Explore everything from the molecular processes and interactions inside cells to large scale ecological interactions between organisms in their environment and how the changing environment shapes these interactions. No matter where your interests in the life sciences may lie, our department provides exceptional opportunities for learning and mentorship to all students.Biology is the study of life as it has evolved and is evolving on earth. All aspects of life are examined, from molecular processes inside cells, to large scale ecological interactions between organisms in their environment, and how the changing environment shapes these interactions. Specializations Cell, Molecular and Developmental Biology, Environmental and Integrative Physiology, Evolution and Biodiversity, Ecology and Environmental Biology, Integrative Biology. The Department of Biological Sciences includes core courses in general biology, the diversity of fungi, algae, animals and plants, genetics, cell biology, physiology, ecology and evolution. We also offers courses in a wide variety of areas including invertebrate and vertebrate structure, animal and plant ecology and physiology, boreal ecology, molecular biology, mycology, entomology, developmental biology, limnology, ichthyology, ornithology, animal behaviour and mammalogy. Biological Sciences courses include lectures and laboratory study and sometimes involve field trips. Over 80 courses are available to undergraduate students. Our students also have the opportunity to take biology related course from outside the department in areas such as microbiology, biochemistry, agriculture, environmental science and human genetics in fact, anywhere on campus.
