Admission to the MS program in health services administration is determined on the basis of the following
Possession of a bachelor degree from an institutional accredited institution with an overall undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale An average of less than a 3.0 will be reviewed for conditional admission
Two letters of recommendation from current employer or professional associates one being a health care provider supervisor familiar with the applicants work or college performance
Interview with a School of Business faculty advisor International students unable to visit the campus for an interview will submit an autobiographical essay focusing on the questions in the application packet
Fulltime employment at least three out of the last five years including at least one year in a health care organization working in a supervisory position Inter national students unable to pursue fulltime employment in the United States while completing a graduate degree may be admitted to the program if the student has prior substantive fulltime work experience
Current resume
English or Internet based TOEFL iBT Test of English as a Foreign Language with a minimum score of 80
or
TOEFL paper and pencil test with a minimum score of 550 accompanied by the Test of Written English TWE with a minimum score of 5.
or
MET score of 71 or higher on all parts or
IELTS score of 6.5 plus or

The MSHSA program prepares graduates to succeed in today's complex healthcare business environment. Students learn to solve health care business problems by applying contemporary knowledge of business and healthcare technologies, law, finance, leadership, management, and marketing.<br><br>Students engage with faculty to explore current and future issues impacting healthcare service organizations while focusing on expanding their ethical reasoning and managerial decision-making skills. A student will cultivate excellent communication capabilities and cross-disciplinary aptitudes for working in culturally and intellectually diverse environments.<br><br>The HSA program educates health care managers in the theory and practice of health care business management. The program offers classes in the functional areas of business with health care applications as the focus and is intended for students who generally already work in the field but aspire to a management position.<br><br>Students in this program will learn to:<br><br>apply the theory of various business disciplines to healthcare settings<br>assess health care information systems to allocate resources more efficiently<br>examine health care legal issues relating to the delivery of patient care<br>balance patient care needs with the financial restraints of the organization<br>evaluate the effectiveness of quality measurement techniques on patient satisfaction and care
