If you are interested in using science to understand and predict the behaviour of the Earth's atmosphere and to investigate the key challenges facing our time, such as atmospheric pollution, climate change and severe weather then the BSc Meteorology and Climate Science degree is for you. The demand for knowledge and practical skills in atmospheric science is increasing. At Leeds youll develop a broad range of tools to tackle critical environmental issues right from the start.<br><br>Traditional meteorology courses take a very theoretical approach, but our course is unique. We combine theory with practice, so you can build a strong understanding of the processes in the atmosphere and then put that knowledge to test in the real world. We are one of the few UK universities that offers a course focused entirely on meteorology and climate science. Here youll combine meteorology with a broader understanding of the climatic and environmental system, gaining a real breadth of knowledge leading to a wide range of careers. To help you understand the complex behaviour of the Earth's atmosphere and climate system, youll study all the main branches of atmospheric science combining mathematics, atmospheric physics, meteorology, atmospheric chemistry and climate science.<br><br>You can convert your 3-year degree into a 4-year study abroad degree by spending an additional year overseas, before returning to Leeds to complete your final year of study. You dont apply directly to this course, instead you can register your interest with us once youve enrolled on the 3-year degree. You can convert your 3-year degree into a 4-year industrial degree by spending an additional year on an industrial placement, before returning to Leeds to complete your final year of study. This allows you to gain valuable hands-on experience, and earn a salary, before you complete the final year of your degree.
