A Level: ABB - BBB including two from Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Geography, Biology or similar science-based A level, but excluding General Studies and Critical Thinking. For Biology, Chemistry and Physics A levels, we require a pass in the practical element. GCSE Mathematics (minimum grade B or 6) required if not offered at A or AS level.

IB: 32 points. Standard Level Mathematics or Mathematical Studies required at grade 5 if not offered at Higher Level.

Applicants whose first language is not English require a minimum score of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.

This five-year MEarthSci degree includes a year in industry to advance your academic knowledge with practical work experience in the Earth Science field. Earth science at Newcastle considers novel innovations in the biological, chemical and physical sciences, and supporting technologies such as GIS, remote sensing and environmental informatics. This five-year degree is similar to our Earth Science MEarthSci Honours but between Stages 2 and 3 you will take a year out in industry. This is a great opportunity to advance your academic knowledge with practical work experience in the Earth science field.
