Required subjects

BBB including Biology or 2 of Chemistry, Physics and either Maths or Further Mathematics. Alternatively, BBC including Biology or 2 of Chemistry, Physics and either Maths or Further Mathematics plus an A in the EPQ
 

GCSEs

GCSE mathematics and english at grade 4 (C) or above are required.

Excluded subjects

General studies, critical thinking, Science and Society, citizenship studies and leisure studies are not accepted.

IB score

28 points overall or 555 in 3 HL certificates

Consequently we treat all applicants with alternative qualifications (besides A-levels and the International Baccalaureate) on an individual basis, and we gladly accept students with a whole range of less conventional qualifications including:
 

• Access to HE Diploma
• Advanced Diploma
• BTEC HND/HNC
• BTEC Extended Diploma

RQF BTEC Nationals

Applications are assessed on an individual basis to ensure sufficient science has been studied. We will consider the following: 

• RQF Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma DDM 
• RQF Level 3 BTEC National Diploma DM plus 1 A Level at grade B
• RQF Level 3 BTEC National Extended Certificate D plus 2 A Levels grades BC

The required A Levels for mixed BTEC and A Level grade profiles depends on the science content studied in the BTEC.

Access to HE Diploma

Access to HE Diploma must contain 60 credits overall and 45 graded credits at level 3.

Applications are assessed on an individual basis. Where an offer is made, our standard requirements are:

• Access to HE Diploma 21 graded Level 3 credits at Distinction; 18 graded Level 3 credits at Merit plus 6 graded Level 3 credits at Pass. Either 15 graded Level 3 credits must be achieved at minimum grade Merit from biology units , or 30 graded Level 3 credits achieved at minimum grade Merit from chemistry, physics and mathematics units.

English language requirements

IELTS: 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each element)

TOEFL (iBT): 80 (with a minimum of 17 in writing and listening, 18 in reading and 20 in speaking)
