We accept the following subjects as a second science: Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Further Mathematics, Geography, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology or Statistics.
Access to Higher Education Diploma 39 credits at Distinction and 6 credits at Merit or higher. Must include Biology modules at Level 3.
BTEC National Extended Diploma BTEC National Extended Diploma DDD. We consider BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science (2016 syllabus) with all 7 mandatory units plus 4-6 units from 8,9,10,11,12,13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 23 and no more than 2 units from 15,16,21,22,24,25,26. We consider BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science (2010 syllabus), please contact us for information on the units we accept.
Cambridge Pre-U D3, D3, D3 including Biology and a second science or mathematics subject.
European Baccalaureate 85% overall including 8.5 in Biology and a second science.
International Baccalaureate 36 points including 6 in Higher Level Biology and 6 in another Higher Level science subject. If English is not your first language then we require 5 in English B. IELTS (Academic and Indicator) 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in each component
TOEFL 87 overall, with a minimum of 21 in each component

Prepare for a career as a scientist by understanding the latest biological research in the science of life, ranging from the molecular to whole organisms and entire ecosystems. Our integrated Masters in Biology is a flexible and broad-based degree that covers biomedicine, biotechnology, genetics, ecology, and evolutionary biology.<br><br>This course is ideal if you are interested in an interdisciplinary approach to biology, or wish to specialise at a later stage, you will have a wide range of options to tailor the course to your developing interests.<br><br>The study of life ranges from the chemistry of single molecules to understanding how populations of different species respond to changes in the environment. Driven by cutting-edge technologies, we now live in an era where medicines can be tailored to individuals and the genomes of novel organisms can be sequenced in less than a day. An explosion of discoveries relating to how cancer develops, predicting the effects of climate change and harnessing the biotechnological potential of organisms to produce fuel, food and medicines makes the biosciences one of the most exciting and relevant subjects of the 21st century.<br><br>The integrated Masters course introduces a four-year programme that specifically focuses on the skills needed for a career as a research scientist. During this time you work with researchers within one of the UK's top bioscience departments to learn specialised techniques, you will gain experience in a research lab doing pioneering work at the forefront of their field. You also undertake specialist research training and take Masters-level modules.<br><br>Adding a year in industry or a year abroad are both an option with this course too, so you can benefit from the advantages that a year away can bring.
