The PhD program in Statistics at the Research School of Finance, Actuarial Studies and Statistics (RSFAS) equips graduates with knowledge of developments in theoretical and applied statistics. The PhD program draws upon the diverse expertise of academic staff across the University. The School’s PhD candidates will undertake independent research on a specialised research topic.The program is focused on developing candidates for a career in academia, government or industry. Positions in government or industry may include researchers in scientific, medical or health research organisations; researchers or analysts within government agencies, such as the Australian Bureau of Statistics and Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, or departments of Health, Agriculture, Education, Finance and Treasury; researchers or quantitative data analysts within the corporate sector, including banking, finance and insurance, pharmaceutical, and energy and mining sectors; and management and statistical consultants.Duration: 2 to 4 years full time (4 to 8 years part time)
