The Environmental Studies major is the study of human interaction with the environment. The coursework discusses a variety of systems and their connections with the environment. This ranges from politics and pollution to climate change and tourism. The program's foundation is in traditional scientific studies and the study of economics, sociology and political science. The Environmental Studies major is offered as a Bachelor of Science (BS) or a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. The BS degree is for students wishing to get an in-depth scientific study. The BA degree provides students with more electives. This gives students room to focus on a different component of Environmental Studies, such as political science or economics. Students are encouraged to take part in internships and research opportunities with faculty. Graduates are well prepared for entry-level positions with a variety of firms including environmental consulting firms or regulatory agencies.
